Campi Flegrei

Located 9 km from Hotel Splendid is the wonderful Campi Flegrei, one of the most interesting archeological areas and parks in Italy and the world. The magic charm of these spots has been popular since the time of the Greeks who called them Burning Lands, due to the fumaroles, thermal baths and steam that still surrounds the incredible remains of the ancient world including the Amphitheater (20,000 seats) and Macellum - Temple of Serapis (area of the Roman market).

Gaiola and Baia submerged parks

Located at 5 and 19 km respectively from Hotel Splendid, the Gaiola and Baia submerged parks are a true wonder. The bradyseism of the area of Posillipo and Pozzuoli caused the magnificent patrician villas of the Romans to sink into the sea. They had chosen the area around the 1st century BC as an exclusive site for summer residences. From the land and sea it is possible to enjoy the sight of the famous Villa of Pausylipon, the theater and odeon in Gaiola, the submerged Villa of Calpurnius Piso and the Villa of Julius Caesar in Baia.
